There’s something beyond romantic and dreamy about a Maui beachside wedding. Growing up, I could only dream of being lucky enough to call this island my home; now I’m here! Since visiting Maui for the first time in 1998, I’m a big believer in manifesting and living out our dreams, and if your dream is to get married on this tropical island, let’s make it happen! Throughout this blog, I’ll share my top tips for planning your dream wedding in Hawai’i. While it may seem overwhelming now, I’ve got your back, sis! Let’s start alleviating some stress and entering that island state of mind.
First and most importantly, do your research! Run to Pinterest and look up some photos of weddings from the area – or browse my website 😉 Make sure that a beach wedding is actually what you want. Next, research the heck out of this place. Look on Maui’s official website for local updates and information, and contact local vendors. As a Maui elopement photographer, I’m your best resource for venues, vendors, and legal beaches for your big day. A Maui beach wedding is an absolute dream, but research the legalities and the overall process for getting married here.
Next, consider hiring a local planner for your big day, especially if you’re not a local resident. It’ll be crucial to have someone local to coordinate logistics throughout the wedding planning process. While you can do a lot of research and networking online, your planner will have connections as a resident! I would strongly suggest finding at least one vendor, whether your planner or a photographer (like me!) that you connect with you to help lead you in the right direction. If you need help finding an excellent local planner for bigger weddings, contact me on Instagram! I can point you in the right direction.
While planning your dream wedding, consider where your guests will stay. This is especially important if you travel to the area for your wedding, and giving guests a few locations to book accommodations will make travel much more manageable! Ask your planner or photographer what hotels they recommend and which will be closest to your ceremony site. If guests are traveling here for your wedding, planning for an enjoyable experience and travel is the least we can do. Consider providing guests with an ideal itinerary, including wedding events and times!
The Hawaiian culture is unbeatable. From the incredible food, welcoming people, and deep-rooted cultural ceremonies, it’s moving and memorable. Consider incorporating some of this local culture into your destination wedding. While your wedding celebrates your love, including elements of their culture allows for meaningful experiences. Hawai’i has stunning views, adrenaline-junky-type adventures, and some of the most genuine people you will ever meet. What makes a Maui beach wedding unique is far beyond the picturesque location but rather the heart of the community found in the local culture and its people.
