Which is why I love sunrise for photoshoots.

Yes, sunset is gorgeous and golden — but be prepared to battle the winds and harsh lighting at times.

Sunrise colors are often pastel and very light, little to no wind, and almost empty beaches as the island hasn’t quite woken up yet!

This sunrise session was taken in Wailea, one of my favorite areas of Maui!
